Award - Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year 2020
In 2018 I visited Scotland twice. The first time on a road trip through the UK in the summer. And the second time only two months later, in the Autumn.
This time I was familiar with the places and I knew exactly where I wanted to go, to capture the beautiful colours but also to enjoy this country Midge free.
On the week long Autumn trip my father joined me. He is also an enthusiastic photographer and even more so a lover of nature. With extensive knowledge of all kinds of plants, trees, animals and insects.
We had such a beautiful week and we couldn’t wish for better weather. The Autumn colours were out in full force and I made quite some photos that I’m really happy with.
Fast forward to 2019, I became aware of the photo-competition called ‘Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year’ which is held annually and open to photographers from all over the world. As long as the photos are taken in Scotland, you can enter in various categories. So I did.
A couple of weeks later I was surprised to hear that my drone photo had won in the ‘ Your Vision’ category. See the image above.
This year I entered again and one of my favourite photos ever had been Highly Commended in the ‘Treescape’ category. Needless to say I was very pleased to hear this news. See the image below
Visit the SLPOTY website to see all the photos that have won in the various categories.
