Take in the Varied Landscapes of North Wales

Immerse yourself in the breath-taking landscapes of North Wales and Eryri (Snowdonia), The region is renowned for its dramatic scenery, rugged mountains, serene lakes, and mystical woodlands; often thought to be one of the premier landscape photography destinations in the UK. You will experience everything from the craggy mountains of Eryri, to the rugged coast of Anglesey and the lush Atlantic temperate rainforests.

On this workshop you will be led by Eugene Theron and Jurre Jan de Wit who will guide you to some of Wales’s most inspiring and picturesque locations. Each day will consist of visiting a different part of the diverse Welsh landscape where you will receive hands-on tuition to help develop everything from your camera skills to composition and creative techniques. We will also be delivering sessions to review the images you took and instruction in post-processing.

Eugene and Jurre Jan are both deeply influenced by the natural world with their photography reflecting this; shooting everything from wide vistas to more intimate and abstract imagery yet each with their own style.

Having lived in North Wales for 15 years, and with a background in earth science, Eugene will guide us to the best and more remote locations, each ripe with creative opportunities. Each day we will visit a different type of landscape to explore the different creative opportunities. Jurre Jan brings the experience of creating images in the mountains and on the coast of northern Norway close to where he lives. He will bring fresh perspectives to shooting in north Wales.

North Wales in early spring is truly a magnificent with nature starting to spring to life after the winter.

Jurre Jan de Wit

Jurre Jan – or JJ as he is often called – has a huge fascination for the natural world around him, which is also his driving force for the exploration of nature. Growing up in the flat country of the Netherlands is not easy for a mountain-lover – so he decided to make Northern Norway his home. Here he found endless opportunities to explore the mountains, enjoy all things outdoors and of course chasing the illusive northern Lights.

Jurre Jan is someone who never goes anywhere without his beloved camera and is very passionate about landscape photography. For him, being in the best locations, at the best time of the day is something he lives for – but he just as well loves to share these moments with others to let them enjoy the beauty of the world.

Eugene Theron

Originally from South Africa, Eugene currently lives in north Wales, pretty much on the doorstep of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park/Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri. Full of dramatic mountain landscapes, woodland, waterways and rugged coastlines. An amazing place to be a photographer who loves nature, the landscape and some climbing too.

Most of Eugene's work focusses on the areas close to him but his desire to travel and discover new places has taken him to many other places. The mountains of Scotland and the vast open landscapes of southern Africa hold a special place. New destinations inspire creative thought and can give new perspectives of how to shoot in your local landscape.
